Why Conduct A Monthly Audit?

It is absolutely crucial to conduct a regular audit of your social media accounts (set a reminder as part of your Social Media plan). Here’s some important considerations:

  • Ensure that customers are seeing up to date information and that all links and maps are working.
  • Check your social pages from a different account so you are seeing it from a customer’s perspective.
  • When working solo it’s always good to brainstorm with other people, ask a friend to help to ensure you aren’t missing anything.
  • Ensure customers recognise your business by maintaining consistent branding. Use your logo for your profile photo – it creates brand awareness. It is vital that your logo/branding is consistent across all channels.


Instagram: Maintain Your Bio

Update your bio, change it, make it relevant to what is currently happening with your business.

  • Include sale codes, specials, a fun fact about your business/staff member/yourself or something that is up and coming.
  • This section in your Instagram account should never ever be blank!
  • Ensure all links are working – call / directions / website – it takes just a moment to check these, there is nothing more frustrating when these links don’t work.

Tip: Write your bio in your ‘notes’ section (keeping to a character limit of 160) and paste it to ensure it looks good. You can have some pre-ready for future use – IE – Daily Specials etc. – then it’s a ‘copy & paste’ every day/month etc. You can have a weekend one if you are closed with the note: “…but please message us and we will reply first thing Monday”.

Digital Communication is vital – make your customers feel like VIP’s everyday!


Facebook: Include Relevant Content + Maintain Consistent Branding

  • Again, ensure these details are filled out as best you can.
  • Remember that Facebook is a very different tool to Instagram and you don’t have to change it as much. The demographics of Facebook users differ from Instagram.
  • Ensure all links are working (to web etc).

Cover photos

  • You can have up to 5 cover photos.
  • Ensure they are relevant to your business and show off your products.
  • Ensure they are sized correctly to ensure customers are seeing the right image on tablet/phone/desktop.

Profile photo

  • Use your logo.  Maintain that brand!

Pin To Top

  • This is where you would save your ‘specials’ post.
  • When customers stop by your page they will see this post everytime.
  • Ensure you keep it relevant – don’t save a post up the top if it’s last month’s special. It is so VITAL to keep information current.


Website: Make It Accessible + Provide Quality Content

  • Fast. Easy. Clever. Fresh Content. Be Different.
  • Ensure it’s responsive and can be used across desktop/phone/tablets.
  • When making changes to your website – always remember to update links from Social Media.


Email: Include A Branded Signature

  • Continue your branding in emails.
  • Signature – include a logo / footer to have Social Media links and specials / upcoming events.
  • Capture customer information for future mailouts.
